北京时间6月17日，据热火记者艾拉-温德曼报道，热火队球星吉米-巴特勒将不会代表美国男篮参加东京奥运会。
巴特勒和队友阿德巴约、邓肯-罗宾逊都入选了美国奥运男篮阵容的57人最终候选名单。
美国男篮的训练营将在7月7日开始。

2016年，巴特勒曾代表美国男篮参加了里约奥运会，美国队夺得金牌。那年奥运会，巴特勒场均出场14.3分钟，得到5.6分和2.5个篮板。
