北京时间7月30日，在今日进行的NBA选秀大会上，活塞用状元签选择了凯德-坎宁安。
坎宁安在接受采访时表示：“戴上这顶帽子，我感到十分激动。对我来说，这一切感觉像是超现实。”
谈到活塞，坎宁安说：“活塞上赛季选择了两名优秀的新秀。得到两名优秀的新秀很关键，他们拥有很棒的年轻核心。我想要加入其中，与他们共同成长。”
