韦德表示：“我记得十分清楚，这就是我生涯的一部分。你不能只想着好的一面，而不去想其他东西。我不说那是不好的一面，是因为在迈阿密一切破灭后，那是我想要去做的事情。
“我从未想过要离开迈阿密，那从来都不是我的目标。但是在谈判破裂后，我决定为我自己做点什么。能够回到家乡打球，那永远都是我最喜爱的时刻之一。”
