北京时间10月16日，据名记shams报道，奥兰多魔术中锋温德尔-卡特已经和球队达成一份4年5000万美元的提前续约合同，该合同金额为全额保障。这样一来，卡特成为2018届新秀中第6位获得提前续约合同的球员。
在今年季前赛中，小卡特的表现不错，他场均上场25.5分钟能够得到12.5 分8.8 篮板2助攻1盖帽。
据悉，小卡特是在2018年选秀大会上被公牛选中的7号秀。不过，在上赛季中期小卡特被公牛交易至魔术，2020-21赛季常规赛，卡特总共出战54场比赛，场均上场25.5分钟，得到11.2分8.2篮板1.9助攻0.6抢断0.8盖帽。
