Dota 2's player rankings underwent a bit of a shift back in January, but things are starting to look more normal now. And of course, this means that Team Secret is back on top.
The European squad is retaking the top five once again, and a lot of top European players followed them up the ladder. Whether they can hold onto those spots is the big question, but here’s where things stand now:

Team Secret trio leaps into top five of Dota 2 player rankings
Team Secret has had strong representation in the top 10 player rankings throughout its history, with the squad once taking up the entirety of the top five. A skid towards the end of 2020 saw the group's grip loosen a bit, but a 7-0 run in DreamLeague Season 14 helped the team solidify its place in the top 10 once again.
Michał "Nisha" Jankowski, as is often the case, sits in the top spot while Ludwig "zai" Wåhlberg and Lasse Aukusti "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen sit in fourth and fifth, respectively. Secret tammates Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat and Clement “Puppey” Ivanov aren’t too far outside the top 10 either, showing up at 14th and 15th, respectively.
Breaking up the party in the top five is Vici Gaming’s Ren "eLeVeN" Yangwei and PSG.LGD’s Wang "Ame" Chunyu. The pair have been staples of the top 10 and still enjoy strong positioning here. This is particularly impressive for Ame, given that PSG.LGD has been somewhat underwhelming to this point in 2021.
ONE Esports Singapore Major will result in big ranking changes
There’s a pretty big difference between Nisha and the rest of the pack. Everyone else could be bumped in short order. There’s only a few points separating most of the players in the top 10 and that doesn’t change as things keep going. Players across all regions could hypothetically jump into this ranking with a strong performance at the first major in over a year, the ONE Esports Singapore Major.
In the short term, Chinese players are positioned to gain traction. Though most regions are currently in limbo as they await the major, the Chinese Dota Pro Circuit league is still ongoing. That’s good news for the likes of Zhang "y`" Yiping and Zhou "Yang" Haiyang, who have the chance to creep their way up even higher in our ranking.
