Everything we know so far about DOTA: Dragon's Blood Season 2

Without spoiling too much about DOTA: Dragon’s Blood, the series ends on a cliffhanger. Naturally, loads of Dota 2 fans are now clamoring for any information that can be found about a second season of the show.

Details are scarce at this point, but it’s worth going over everything that is known. Here’s all the information released to this point on DOTA: Dragon’s Blood. But be warned, there are spoilers ahead for DOTA: Dragon’s Blood Season 1.

DOTA: Dragon’s Blood Season 2 plot

It’s a safe assumption that DOTA: Dragon’s Blood Season 2 will pick up immediately after the events of the first season, which ends at a turning point for all of the major threads in the story.

The Dragon Knights have captured Davion and have a method for suppressing his ability to transform into Slyrak. Their ultimate plan for Davion is unclear, but it seems as though they want to separate the two. Given how central Slyrak is to the Dragon Knight hero in Dota 2 and the possibility that Slyrak has taken complete control of Davion’s body in the game, the group is unlikely to succeed.

Terrorblade effortlessly defeated Selemene in combat, leaving her fate to be decided by Invoker. This serves as a tease that Invoker is actually a major villain in the series, and not the supportive ally he was to Davion and Mirana during season one.

Luna is seemingly on her deathbed, leaving Mirana in command of the Nightsilver Woods’ forces as they look to defend themselves from Coriel 'Tauvi elves out for righteous revenge against them. Possibly among the Coriel 'Tauvi is Fymryn, who fought alongside her people in the chaos surrounding Selemene’s defeat. An apparent crisis of faith may or may not see her return in DOTA: Dragon’s Blood Season 2.

Terrorblade will likely continue his battle to take control of the Eldwurms, something that will inevitably lead him towards a confrontation with Davion and the other Dragon Knights. As for Mirana and Luna, they’ll be forced to make their way home with Coriel 'Tauvi pursuers hot on their heels.

Is DOTA: Dragon’s Blood Season 2 coming soon?

Though DOTA: Dragon’s Blood was clearly meant to have a second season, it’s uncertain that this will come to pass. No official word has been given on its development, or whether it’s in development at all. Series producer Ashley Edward Miller let it slip in March that Netflix had not committed to a second season of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood in an interview with DreamHack.

“I can't really answer that in the sense that I hope that we get more than one. I would love to get at least three,” Miller said when asked about how many seasons of the show were coming.

This didn’t change after the series premiered. Miller fielded questions from fans on social media and the topic of a second season came up on a number of different occasions. While DOTA: Dragon’s Blood received generally positive reviews and enjoyed strong viewership in certain regions, Miller’s responses indicated that a second season was not yet a certainty.

DOTA: Dragon’s Blood Season 2 release date

At present, there is no set release date for DOTA: Dragon’s Blood Season 2, but even the most optimistic projections wouldn’t have it coming out for a long while.

The first season of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood was in development for over two years, and with season two still in limbo, it may not release for some time even if it gets the green light soon. Though season two likely wouldn’t take that long with all the principle story elements hashed out and all the characters designed, things still wouldn’t be ready for over a year at minimum.

The first thing that DOTA: Dragon’s Blood fans need to keep an eye on is whether a second season gets approved by Netflix. From there, further details will likely be confirmed regarding series producers and animators.
